Hiking Trails & Walking Routes in Sweden

Abisko National Park, near Abisko (Norrbottens Län)

Distance: 17 km – Uphill: 839 m – Downhill: 839 m – Time: 6:00/7:20 hrs

This route winds through the arctic wilderness of the Abisko National Park, a protected area of about 77 sq km in the northernmost part of Swedish Lapland.

Ågesta – Orlången, near Ågesta (Stockholms Län)

Distance: 14 km – Uphill: 665 m – Downhill: 665 m – Time: 4:50/6:00 hrs

A very interesting trail which connects Ågesta, south of Stockholm and home to the first Swedish nuclear power plant, to Lake Orlången and its nature reserve.

Hamrafjället & Andersjöfallet, near Östra Malmagen (Jämtlands)

Distance: 12 km – Uphill: 424 m – Downhill: 424 m – Time: 3:40/4:20 hrs

The hike starts gently from the Andersjöfallet waterfall and then goes all the way up to the Hamrafjället’s summit, passing through amazing forests and meadows.

Rotsidan (High Coast), near Barstahamn (Västernorrland)

Distance: 11 km – Uphill: 259 m – Downhill: 259 m – Time: 3:20/4:00 hrs

Hiking along the Rotsidan nature reserve is a great opportunity to explore the Swedish coastline of the Gulf of Bothnia, a World Heritage site since 2000.

Tolsbogångan, near Sånnaboda (Örebro Län)

Distance: 12 km – Uphill: 138 m – Downhill: 138 m – Time: 3:00/3:40 hrs

Tolsbogångan is an old path which crosses Villingsberg shooting range and Trangärdet, a natural marshland area with a rich birdlife and several lakes.
