(re)Wandering in Berlin: Sense the Distance

This can be seen as an attempt to recover the reality of space and the pleasure of real exploration in the urban context where most of us actually live or travel to. It belongs to a series of personal immersions that are explained and listed here. You can download the GPS track and its tags/waypoints from Google Maps.

Sense the Distance Trail, Neukölln-Schillerkiez, Berlin, Germany

Distance: 8.2 km – Total climb: 54 m – Total descent: 55 m – Duration: 2:10 hrs

From the melting pot of Karl-Marx-Straße to the neo-baroque park that used to be a gravel pit. What will stay with us? The boundless spaces of a disused airport, the war cemetery with adjoining mosque, the half frozen lakes of an anonymous green area, or the cute cafés on the promenade? Maybe just a sense of distance.
